Gorge House
This house is located above the bluff in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. It has spectacular views looking down the Gorge at 5 windsurfing and kiting sites and at Mt. Hood. The challenge was the strong winds in the summer. I wanted a place to I could entertain, eat dinner, BBQ and use the spa protected from the wind. So I designed and built this house with a large 500 sq. ft. open-air courtyard in the middle of the house. Every major room in the house has windows or a door opening into this courtyard.
Inside the house and scattered about the property are my sculptures. That sounds egotistical but is affordable.
I did the design and CAD work myself. Then spent 18 months, 7 days a week, 10 hours per day building it. I even skipped a season windsurfing!
